EMOTIONALLY DISTURBED INDIVIDUALS (VERBAL DEFENSIVE TACTICS)

The Burleson Police Foundation will sponsor this one-day seminar, featuring Ellis Admur, Founder of Edgework: Crisis Intervention Resources PLLC. Mr. Admur will mimic the behaviors of mentally ill and emotionally disturbed individuals for a diverse audience consisting of law enforcement, school counselors, communications specialist, ministers, academia’s, and medical professionals. This training will start the dialog on how law enforcement and the community can work together to leverage resources in search
of best practices in handling these volatile situations. Law enforcement officers frequently respond to calls where mentally ill individuals are in distress. The Burleson Police Department wants to provide enhanced training for their staff, while building community partnerships in search of non-traditional methods to improve the quality of life and safety of everyone while responding to this challenging environment.
